Celebrating EMS Week 2025: “We Care. For Everyone.”

Madison Emergency Medical Services is proud to join EMS organizations nationwide in celebrating National EMS Week, taking place May 18-24, 2025. This year’s theme, “We Care. For Everyone,” perfectly captures the mission that drives our team every day as we serve the residents and visitors of Madison, Connecticut.

What is EMS Week?

Established in 1974 by President Gerald Ford, EMS Week honors the dedication of emergency medical services professionals who serve as medicine’s frontline. The American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) and the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) organize this special week to recognize the vital contributions EMS professionals make in safeguarding the health, safety, and well-being of their communities.

Daily Themes to Guide Our Celebration

Each day of EMS Week focuses on a different aspect of emergency medical services:

  • Sunday, May 18: Health, Wellness, and Resilience Day – Focusing on the physical and mental well-being of our EMS professionals
  • Monday, May 19: Education Day – Highlighting our training programs and community education initiatives
  • Tuesday, May 20: EMS Safety Day – Promoting safety for EMS professionals, patients, and the public
  • Wednesday, May 21: EMS for Children Day – Recognizing the special care needed for our youngest patients
  • Thursday, May 22: Save-A-Life Day/STOP THE BLEED® Day – Emphasizing public education in life-saving techniques
  • Friday, May 23: EMS Recognition Day – Honoring the exceptional members of our EMS team
  • Saturday, May 24: EMS Remembrance Day – Paying tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice

Madison EMS: By the Numbers

Our team proudly serves the over 18,000 residents of Madison, responding to more than 1,800 calls for service and transporting over 1,400 patients annually. Behind these numbers are countless stories of lives touched, emergencies handled, and community members cared for with compassion and professionalism.

Community Support Makes a Difference

Each year during EMS Week, Madison EMS is humbled by the generous support we receive from local businesses throughout our community. These businesses help us recognize our dedicated employees by providing gift certificates, lunches, dinners, and more throughout EMS Week. This outpouring of support reminds our team that the community we serve values our commitment and dedication.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to these businesses whose generosity allows us to celebrate our hardworking EMTs and paramedics. Your support means more than you know, especially to those who work long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays to ensure that emergency medical care is always available when needed most.

Join Us in Celebrating

During EMS Week, we invite the Madison community to join us in recognizing the men and women who provide emergency medical services in our town. Here are a few ways you can participate:

  • Learn a life-saving skill: Inquire about our Community Training Classes, including CPR and STOP THE BLEED
  • Express your appreciation: A simple thank you to an EMS professional can make their day
  • Consider a career or volunteer position: Learn about opportunities to join our team or one of the volunteer fire departments in town
  • Support our mission: Consider donating to Madison EMS to help us continue providing the highest level of care

Looking Forward

As we celebrate EMS Week, we also look to the future. Madison EMS is committed to continuing our tradition of excellence, embracing new technologies and approaches to emergency care, and strengthening our connection to the community we’re privileged to serve.

From all of us at Madison Emergency Medical Services, thank you for your support as we continue our mission of caring for our community—because at Madison EMS, we truly do care for everyone.
